Sentry Software at Dash 2023

A great event for networking, knowledge sharing, and fostering collaborations.

Sentry Software at Dash 2023

On August 2nd-3rd 2023, Sentry Software had the pleasure of attending Datadog Dash as a sponsor for the second time. This year's Datadog Dash was held in San Francisco, at the Moscone Center, the site of some of the world's largest tech conferences. Joining me this year was my teammate Razeem Mohamed.

Day 1

After a quick breakfast, I headed up to Exhibition Hall to do some final setup and play with the vintage arcade machines provided for the event (turned out I'm pretty good at Galaga!) while my teammate Razeem was passing the Datadog Fundamentals Certification.

Due to great interest, the exhibition hall opened ahead of schedule at 11 am. This gave us extra time to meet Datadog customers, chat with them about their challenges and opportunities in the technology industry, explain how Hardware Sentry can help them monitor their infrastructure, reduce their environmental impact, and lower their data centers' cooling costs.

Speaking of environmental impact, we chose not to have any giveaway items at our booth this year to be more environmentally friendly. Seeing the amount of stuff that had to be shipped in and out of the hall, I think it was a responsible choice.

After the opening ceremony at the end of day 1, RapDev hosted a fantastic Happy Hour where I got to test my table tennis skills against our friends (and booth neighbors) from Mainstorconcept, and even got to play with some puppies from the San Francisco SPCA! This was fun!

Day 2

Day 2 was a full day in the Partner Expo Hall. Again, Datadog users showed great interest in the sustainability features of Hardware Sentry. We also talked a lot about the reasons why some of them choose to have their infrastructure on-premises instead of in the cloud, such as greater security and higher-than-expected cloud costs. For these users, the ability to monitor all their systems with a unique product, like Hardware Sentry, is an important asset.

After the closing ceremony on Day 2, Razeem and I took the rare opportunity to explore San Francisco together, riding one of the legendary cable cars, visiting some well-known sights, and trying to see the Golden Gate Bridge, but instead getting a view of San Francisco's famous fog!

Dash 2023 was so much fun. It was a great experience to meet Datadog users, other exhibitors, and folks from the Datadog teams that we work with to support our customers. With any luck, I'll see you again at Dash 2024!
